Open, Open, Open.........

Busy busy around here lately. Top of the list of things to be done ‘right now’ was to build a trash can cage. Something to keep them got-dam dogs outa the trash cans that don’t ever seem to be picked up on any sort of schedule whatsoever.
Well let’s see them hairy beasts get to 'em now! You can gaze and gawk at the marvel of engineering as you cruze by.
I also had a request for a photo of the new strip mall in Mental Breach. Here ya go.

It’s taking shape just fine. No word if any units have been rented or not.

It must be spring as there are lots of these little baby green iguanas running around. Unfortuntly for me, Scurvy keeps them far away from here. I wish he wasn’t such a murderer! But,, he is. Something deep, deep down inside him screams “IT MOVED, KILL IT”.

But how can you resist that face? Or that sniffer?

"I have sniffed many butts today. In celebration, I lick your face."

Shall we dance?

Once again the crowds turned out for live music at Mango’s. Although there were quite a few still hurting from July 4th poker game, they showed true grit and bellied up to the bar.
If these photos look somewhat similar to the photos from the last music night, well, there ain’t a whole lot to work with. So until I get something in my head, these is all there is.
As usual, I left before dark and possibly before all the really good Kodak moments turned up?

Warp 5 Scotty,,,!

Today we take a break from the norm. let’s get away from the hustle and bustle of Maya Beach. Away from the maddening crowds, the traffic, the mud.
We’ll leave it all behind as we venture were no one goes,, much.
The Final Frontier. Space.
Yep, let’s space out for one day.
We all watched Star Trek right? Well here’s a few things to ponder while we wait patiently for THE BAND TO PLAY AT MANGO’S! yep, live music night at mango’s and I’ll be there.
Until then dwell on this,,,,

Top Ten Signs Your Starship Captain is a Drunkard,

10.) When Spock mind probes him, Spock gets hammered.
9.) Wakes up next to a Klingon chick at least once a week.
8.) Starts the ship’s self-destruct sequence just to phuck with the yeoman who blew him off in the officer’s lounge.
7.) Each time you discover a new planet he tells Spock to scan the surface for cheap scotch and loose females.
6.) The first thing he says when negotiating with Romulans is, “So, what’s the ale situation?”
5.) McCoy tells him, “I’m a doctor, Jim, not a bartender!”
4.) He keeps slipping down to the engineering room to “discuss ancient Scottish traditions” with Scotty.
3.) Giggles every time Spock says they should launch a “deep space probe.”
2.) Whenever a female yeoman brings him a clipboard he tries to open a tab.
1.) Is willing to make beer runs into the neutral zone.

Broken shocks, flat tires, and chipped teeth,,,,

Drove to town yesterday fully expecting the road to be just miserable. Turns out, all the rain had softened up the sharp edges and the holes were not so ‘edgy’ so to speak.
As we drove past that project that is trying to dig to China, we notice that about ½ of their fleet of dredgers are back at it. If you listen close you can hear the sounds of Shanghai coming from the hole and smell egg rolls! I think it’s egg rolls.
Speaking of egg rolls, Wendy’s restaurant has moved to her new location. About 20 yards north of where it was, into a much larger and much nicer building.
Finished up our chores and headed back north. What do we see around the new furniture shop in Siene Bight? A grader. What’s so interesting about that? He was Un-paving the road! Yes, from the community center south to Steve’s place (the end of the pavement) they were scraping off the old crap that made things so bad. Great! you say. Well what makes this even more significant is the fact that it was M.O.W. equipment!
I was told a few years back that the road maintenance contract was sent out to a private contractor and they were the ones who had been grading the road. So, if the M.O.W. is back in town working, maybe, just maybe, and it’s a long shot here, but maybe this is the beginning of the pave job? (GASP)
Don’t get all gooey and teary eyed just yet. It ain’t over till some fat lady sings, and I don’t hear shit!
But maybe this could prove that if you boldly make statements about the paving start dates long enough, some day, SOME DAY, those statements may come true.
I am not ever going to say they have begun to pave the road until I post a photo of the actual paving going on.
Kinda like how you should never comment on a women’s pregnancy unless she has her feet in the stirrups and there is a tiny head poking out! Any comments prior to that could backfire on you. Horribly!
So, the camera is ready and let’s hope I get a good shot with steam coming from hot asphalt!!! Some day.

If you’re too open-minded, your brains will fall out.

Noah, got yer SkillSaw ready?

Last night, it rained so hard, that,,, well let's just say it rained a lot! If any of this rain found it’s way west of the Kendall Bridge, there she goes again I would think.
Sharp, bright lightning and thunder that even scared the dog! And he’s fearless!
Our guests made it back from Tikal just in time for that show.
Check out the for sale lot to the south of us. Might need some fill ya think?

Over there somewhere is a toad that sounds like he is the size of a basketball. And he must be H-O-R-N-Y! Horny--toad, get it,,,, never mind. But he has a loud baritone croak that makes it tough to sleep thru.
We get to visit Placencia this morning. It should be a real treat. A road report may follow.

Darts, DaeWoo, and Pus,,,,

Wednesday, and the weather is still windy and cloudy. Nice and cool tho. Another wave on the way.
Our current guests braved the new bridge and drove to Tikal. I told them if they are not back in a week I am selling the stuff they left here.

Remember when I said the dart team wanted to send Malu to Trinidad for some international meet? I spoke with her a few days ago and now it seems she is having trouble with both a visa and expenses. I don’t know what all is involved to get a visa but she said the hardest part, and we all know this, is just getting to BZ city and back! Not everyone can afford to spend days doing something like that. She said she was getting very minimal financial help if any for this trip. I kinda got the impression everything was just going to fade away, slowly.

Update on Fuzznutts’s pus-bucket. (cuz I know you are all just dying to hear).
He has had 2 re-fills since he was ‘drained’. Luckily, I guess, he managed to ‘pop’ his pus bump by his self and get cat-pus all over himself. We have been keeping things cleaned up with peroxide and squirtin antibiotics down his yapper and now things look pretty good.
I hereby proclaim,, cat pus is gross!
Scurvy? Well he just stinks.

We bought a new fridge. A Daewoo. Korean. With digital lights and stuff. We had no choice. Wish us luck!
Anyone need a Mabe fridge that mabe can be fixed? We also have a round psalmwood table up for grabs. Get them before I set them by the side of the road. The table is nice! All yours.

Hard work pays off in the future. Laziness pays off now.

Anybody wanna buy a condo,,,,?

Once again the Kendall Bridge is ‘temporarily’ open.
Anyone seen the donated Bailey bridge in their travels anywhere? Anyone?

Remember the controversial project I mentioned was under the GOB’s hot lights?
Well for the last week there has been a complete absence of activity going on there. The fleet of dredgers are all huddled up near the road like they have been sent to ‘time-out’. If they dig any deeper, we will be getting Chinese take out from there!
After weeks of constant, non-stop dump truck activity, there has been none! Squat, zip, zilch, nada! And I couldn’t be happier!
The area rep, Melvin Hulse spoke at the lobsterfest opening ceremony. I missed it but heard he told the folks present that if they wanted to control the direction their village was going, they needed to FIGHT!
I hear it was met with applause.
I bet a few of the ‘mover’s and shaker’s’ in the crowd would be groaning at that comment.
Then I also hear that the M.O.W. stated that the road contract has been signed and work will start in 2 weeks. Ho Hum, yawn, never heard that before.
This photo doesn’t do the paved section any justice, but believe me, the holes can be up to 1 ft deep and this is a good section of the ‘Baghdad Airstrip’! And there are miles of this!

Aw crap! I was just informed that I did not win the scooter raffle. Shrimp farm Linda won it. This is the first time I have been without a motorcycle since 1976! Beginning to feel a bit,,, weird.
Congrats Linda! Let me take it for a spin some day.
