Low flying aircraft,,,

Anyone who has been here knows that you have to drive around the airstrip. And, keep an eye out for planes as they can and have hit vehicles. They usually land from the west and depart to the east, winds permitting.
Most everyone has an airstrip story including me. Not too long ago as we were heading south I looked out and didn’t see anything. I continued around the tip. Once at the tip I heard it, Mrs. Barn screamed, I looked out the passenger window and all I saw was prop and wheels! FUCK,, that was a close one. I looked, I just didn’t see it.
There is a small truck somewhere that has a nice dent in the roof from a Tropic flight. I am told it scared the livin shit outa the rasta guy riding in the back!
There has been talk of some sort of system to prevent this for years. Well,, it has now been implemented. Sort of.

If you look at these gates you will notice the one on the south side is #1. Either has a too short arm.
#2. Or more likely they should have installed it on the right side of the road so the arm will stop the correct side of traffic!
As it is now, it won’t stop the people driving north as the arm won’t reach across the road!
Oh I’m sure they know exactly what they are doing,,,,,,

Heres the sign they will post.

And speaking of traffic situations. For awhile now people have been honking their horns at me, a lot.
I couldn’t figure out what the fuck was their problem.
Well, here it is, DUH!

And now for some seriously over due news/gossip.
Seems Mango’s will get new management.
Wendy Lemus from Wendy’s restaurant will be taking over. I am reliably told Grams wife, ‘Z’ will be in charge.
So I see both good and bad in this.
For sure Wendy runs a great restaurant and Z for a manager is a good move as well. The Breach will benefit from both of them.
But, I was hoping the place would go in the direction of a bar. But I am assuming it will steer more towards the restaurant atmosphere. I don’t know this for sure.
I am just being selfish I suppose but the Breach needs a bar worse than it needs a restaurant. My kind of bar. The kind where you can cuss, spit, nekked women posters in the head, bring in your dog, that kind of bar. Like it was in the beginning, Mango’s was fun back then.

So, the new people will do just fine, they are good people to have in the Breach, but I hope I am not forced into opening my own damn bar!

I hate to advocate drugs, alcohol, violence, or insanity to anyone, but they always worked for me.

That may be the best idea yet!

Drugs, alcohol and insanity are my excuses of choice.

I think Wendy and Z will do great. Didn't Z work there a long time ago for a little bit? Maybe I'm wrong on that though......It'll be good to have SOMETHING going on in there. I hope they are successful.

I think it grand to have Mango's open again...I am sure the bar will be packed with locals and the food will be great.

Everything that is really great and inspiring is created by the individual who can labor in freedom

That is a very funny gate, I think they should just put the sign back up! It's a whole different world there, huh!!?? That's what we love about it. Thanks for the fun reading.

Way back in the day I was stationed on a 378' USCG cutter and we were on a drug eradication patrol. I was on the bridge as messenger and saw a blip heading right for us on radar. The OOD told me to go up on the flying bridge and have a look. Just as I sat foot on the flying bridge and turned to look, a C-130 buzzed us at mast level. The damn near made me soil my skivvies!

I can just imagine what the guy in the back of the truck felt like.
